  I am never disappointed when I visit this little gem of a cafe/restaurant in the heart of historic Coventry, literally next to the Cathedrals. Staff are very friendly, helpful and the food is always excellent. The place has a relaxed ambience, but this does not mean that service efficiency lacks in any way. Cakes are always highly recommended here.

  I like Playwrights for it's dedicated vegan menu which has a good choice of starters and mains and has a couple of dessert options. The menu is also reasonably priced.
  
  The food was nice although the sizzling vegetables needed more herbs and spices. There were four of us in our party and it was my mum's birthday. As we had pre booked and told them it was her birthday, her meal was free which is a lovely offer that they do.
  
  I felt a little cramped in the bistro; it felt like there were more tables crammed in there than my last visit and I was a little squashed up against the window and it wasn't easy to navigate out of my seat!
  
  This isn't my first visit though and I would go again :)

  Decent food; always a pleasant atmosphere; good service; nice cocktails. It never seems busy when my girlfriend and I go, however we have only gone for dinner mid-week days and it is a relatively small restaurant compared to others in Coventry anyway. I recommend Playwrights.
